Following Iran's widespread use of ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial systems (UAS) throughout the Near East region during the 2026 conflict, there remains a significant and persistent risk of unexploded ordnance (UXO) falling into the hands of malign actors who could repurpose these materials to carry out attacks against U.S. facilities, critical infrastructure, and civilian soft targets, a phenomenon known as “explosive harvesting.” The proliferation of UXO, combined with the technical sophistication of Iranian-origin explosive materials, presents an acute threat to regional stability and U.S. national security interests. The Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs of the U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out a project to combat forced child recruitment by Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTO) and Transnational Criminal Organizations (TCO) in Colombia. Combating forced child recruitment weakens illegal armed groups by depriving them of members and reduces their ability to engage in criminal activities that threaten U.S. national security. This project will support Colombian efforts to combat forced child recruitment by enabling law enforcement to investigate, arrest, and prosecute recruiters.

The continued growth of the incarcerated population, combined with the rapid retirement of baby boomers, has created a significant increase in the number of wardens needed to operate prisons, jails, and community corrections facilities across the nation. Wardens play a critical role in ensuring public safety, protecting the well‑being of staff and incarcerated individuals, and serving as responsible stewards of public resources. Today’s wardens lead complex organizations that manage specialized populations, address staffing shortages and overcrowding, and interact with a wide range of external stakeholders. As chief executive officers of multimillion‑dollar public institutions, their responsibilities are both extensive and widely misunderstood by the public.To meet this urgent workforce need, NIC developed the Executive Leadership Training for New Wardens curriculum, originally launched in 2001 and fully updated in 2022. This 36‑hour, instructor‑led program is specifically designed for wardens with fewer than two years of experience and focuses on the essential leadership and administrative skills required to effectively manage a correctional facility. Core topics include institutional culture, central office relationships, fiscal decision‑making, human resource management, media relations, action planning, and self‑care. The program also provides participants with valuable opportunities to network with peers from across the country, a component consistently identified as one of the most beneficial aspects of the training.

Unlike initiatives centered around K–16 education, AI‑Ready America additionally reaches businesses, public-serving organizations, and individuals, among others, expanding access to AI knowledge, tools, and resources. What We Fund: Projects that position U.S. firms and technologies as Qatar's preferred partners; demonstrate how America's open society drives innovation; strengthen U.S.-Qatar security cooperation; and use Freedom250 to showcase American excellence in ways that support strategic objectives. The purpose of the BIT3 Program is to fund the replacement or rehabilitation of county-owned bridges that are classified as Type 3 bridges[1] by the U.S. Department of Interior Bureau of Reclamation (USBR) and cross a water conveyance structure owned by USBR. Eligible applicants under the BIT3 Competitive Grant Program are counties which own a Type 3 bridge crossing a water conveyance structure owned by USBR. Projects eligible for funding are projects for the replacement or rehabilitation of bridges that: (A) are owned by a county; (B) are classified as a Type 3 bridge by USBR; (C) are eligible under the Federal Lands Access Program (FLAP) (23 United States Code (U.S.C.) § 204); and (D) cross a water conveyance structure owned by USBR. The BIT3 Competitive Grant Program does not require a minimum cost share. Anadromous fish are born in freshwater and spend most of their lives in saltwater, returning to freshwater to spawn. Salmon are a well-known example of anadromous fish.
