The purpose of this award is to support promising graduate students as they complete their doctoral research training and transition into mentored postdoctoral career development opportunities in research areas relevant to the missions of participating NIH Institutes and Centers.This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) does not allow candidates to propose to lead an independent clinical trial, but does allow candidates to propose research experience in a clinical trial led by a sponsor or co-sponsor.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) seeks to advance its mission by maintaining strong, productive, and secure international research collaborations in support of the NIH mission. The NIH Collaborative International Research Project (Parent Announcement) supports international research collaborations. This opportunity specifically implements an award structure of prime domestic awards with independent foreign awards that are linked to the prime. This structure provides NIH with oversight capacity for international collaborations, and allows NIH to track international funding, as identified in NOT-OD-25-104. The purpose of this notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) is to provide investigators with a mechanism to request services from the state-of-the-art Biological Testing Facility that would advance their contraceptive development or reproductive health programs. This NOFO aims to position innovative and validated methods for future regulatory submission and/or clinical development. This notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) invites submission of investigator-initiated Program Project (P01) applications. The proposed Programs should address scientific areas relevant to the NIAID mission including: biology and pathogenesis of infectious microbes, including HIV; host-microbe interactions; mechanisms regulating immune system development and function across the lifespan, and in response to infectious pathogens; immune dysfunction resulting in allergy, asthma, autoimmunity, immunodeficiency, or transplant rejection; and translational research to develop vaccines, therapeutics, and diagnostics to prevent and treat infectious and immune-mediated diseases. Each application submitted to this NOFO must include at least two related, synergistic Research Projects that share a common central theme, focus, and/or overall objective; and an Administrative Core. An application may include Scientific Core(s), if needed for the proposed research.

The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH. The overarching goal of this NIH Science Education Partnership Award (SEPA) program is to support educational activities that increase understanding of biomedical research among pre-college (pre-kindergarten to grade12) individuals, and to encourage awareness of and continued interest in careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

This notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) invites applications for investigator-initiated Resource-Related Research Projects (R24). The proposed resource must provide a significant benefit to currently funded high priority projects in need of further coordination and support in the areas specified. This mechanism may also be used to support development of a new resource to the broader scientific community of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). The Institutional Development Award (IDeA) program supports biomedical research capacity building in states that have historically received low levels of NIH funding. This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) encourages collaborations between the life and physical sciences that: 1) apply a multidisciplinary bioengineering approach to the solution of a biomedical problem; and 2) integrate, optimize, validate, translate or otherwise accelerate the adoption of promising tools, methods, and techniques for a specific research or clinical problem in basic, translational, or clinical science and practice. An application may propose design-directed, developmental, discovery-driven, or hypothesis-driven research and is appropriate for small teams applying an integrative approach to increase our understanding of and solve problems in biological, clinical, or translational science. This NOFO will support clinical trials that test functionality or validate performance in the chosen setting. This NOFO is not intended to support conventional clinical trials that lack translation as the primary motivation. Through this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO), the National Cancer Institute (NCI) encourages grant applications to support research in cancer epidemiology cohort studies that address specific knowledge gaps in cancer etiology and survivorship. Applications should include hypothesis-based research, support for cohort infrastructure and/or maintenance, continued follow-up, and sharing of data and biospecimen resources as appropriate.

This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) invites applications for innovative research on the factors that cause human behaviors and the oral-systemic health impacts of those behaviors to enhance health, lengthen life, and reduce illness and disability among people with chronic conditions. Causal hypotheses may include biological, biopsychosocial, congenital, environmental, interpersonal, neurological, psychological, and comorbidity factors that individually, sequentially, or in combination trigger human behaviors and oral-systemic health outcomes, with impacts that may be direct or traceably distal. This notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) encourages applications for implementation of investigator-initiated, milestone driven clinical trials that need enhanced oversight, and as applicable, include mechanistic studies. Mechanistic work in clinical trials may be of great value because it promotes the understanding of human diseases and the development of future therapeutic modalities. This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) will support, through the cooperative agreement mechanism, investigator-initiated observational studies or biomarker validation studies that require prospective collection of data/biospecimens or continued analysis of data/biospecimens.

The purpose of the Academic Career Excellence (ACE) Award (K32) is to support rigorous, mentored scientific research and career development for up to three years for early-stage postdoctoral scholars. Candidates must submit their application up to one year prior to beginning their postdoctoral position or no more than two years after their postdoctoral training begins (resubmissions included). The ACE K32 will foster early, goal-directed planning and encourage innovative applications with the potential for a significant impact on scientific research and career development. Inclusion of preliminary data are not required as the ACE K32 emphasizes innovative research ideas and thoughtful plans for training and mentorship that will facilitate the development of the postdoctoral scholars who have the potential to become productive, independent investigators in research fields relevant to the missions of the participating NIH Institutes and Centers.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) will award Institutional Mentored Career Development grants to eligible domestic institutions to support career development programs designed to prepare later stage postdoctoral fellows and junior faculty scholars who have made a commitment to an independent research career for their career advancement and transition to independence. Supported scholars will have "protected time" to engage in intensive, mentored research career development experiences in the fields of biomedical and behavioral research.This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) does not allow appointed scholars to lead an independent clinical trial but does allow them to obtain research experience in a clinical trial led by a mentor or co-mentor. NIH strongly supports training towards a career in clinically relevant research. As such, gaining experience in clinical trials under the guidance of a mentor or co-mentor is encouraged.

The National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS) announces a program that provides NIAMS-supported K01, K08, K23, and K25 recipients the opportunity to apply for the Small Grant (R03) during the second to fourth year of their K award, as well as to provide support to recipients of significant career development awards from federal or non-federal organizations that are focused on the NIAMS' mission areas. Through this mechanism, which allows up to $50,000 direct costs per year for up to two years, the NIAMS is seeking to enhance the capability of scientists to conduct research as they transition to fully independent investigator. The R03 grant mechanism allows support of different types of projects, including pilot and feasibility studies; secondary analysis of existing data; small, self-contained research projects; development of research methodology; and development of new research technology.
