The Office of Research Infrastructure Programs (ORIP) invites grant applications from core facilities, resource centers, animal vivaria, or individual investigators of other shared resources to systematically study the roles of critical environmental extrinsic factors in biological, behavioral, and treatment studies using animal model species, with the objective of enhancing the rigor and reproducibility of animal research. The research area must be broadly applicable to the scientific interests of two or more NIH Institutes or Centers (ICs) and must evaluate the biological processes that impact multiple organ systems in order to align with the ORIPs NIH-wide mission and programs. The program supports the acquisition or update of modern equipment for measuring, monitoring, recording, and reporting environmental, biological or biobehavioral variables. The equipment requested must be capable of recording and reporting multiple parameters simultaneously.

INL announces a funding opportunity for qualified individuals to provide expert advisory and mentoring support to specialized anti-organized crime and corruption departments in Bosnia and Herzegovina, covering both the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska. Criminal networks in Bosnia and Herzegovina have documented links to Western Hemisphere cartels that launder drug proceeds and shield corrupt officials, directly threatening U.S. security and economic interests. Bosnia and Herzegovina sits on the Balkan Route, a key corridor for narcotics, weapons, and migrant smuggling. The selected expert or experts will strengthen prosecutorial capacity within the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina's Specialized Department for Corruption and Organized Crime, known as POSKOK, and its Republika Srpska counterpart by delivering structured advisory sessions, participating in legal reform working groups, and providing case-based mentoring to prosecutors, judges, and investigators. The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Biological Research has the potential to pave the way for breakthroughs in biotechnology and bio-system design that will create innovations, new industries, and jobs. To capitalize on this promise, the Directorate for Biological Sciences (BIO) will make awards for Postdoctoral Research Fellowships in Biology (PRFB) to recent doctoral degree recipients, for proposals with a research and training focus at the Intersection of Artificial Intelligence and Biological Sciences to Strengthen and Safeguard Biotechnology Innovations. Applying AI to highly complex biological systems will reveal unknown mechanisms in the natural world that hold promise for technological developments. Candidates with AI and/or biology experience will develop deep expertise in both by proposing additional training in both areas. These combinations of current expertise and new cross-training will produce scientists who work seamlessly at the intersection of AI and biology. The fellows are expected to become field leaders who use AI capabilities to extrapolate from biological data to technological advances.
